A budget crisis is an informal name for a situation in which the legislative and the executive in a presidential system deadlock and are unable to pass a budget. In presidential systems, the legislature has the power to pass a budget, but the executive often has a veto in which there are insufficient votes in the legislature to override. If no emergency provisions are made for the government's budget, a budget crisis may develop into a government shutdown in which the government temporarily suspends non-essential services until a budget is passed. Unlike parliamentary systems, where a Loss of Supply would trigger resignations and new elections, a budget crisis can often lead to an extended standoff. At the federal level in the United States, a crisis can often be averted by a continuing resolution which appropriates funding at the same level as the previous budget. A budget crisis can also occur if the legislative branch has a constitutionally mandated dissolution or suspension date and the budget hasn't been passed up to that point. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How do you think the economy, which in all intensive purposes, refers to the budget crisis in CA,? Q. will effect community corrections? Will it or will not have a drastic impact on it? When you compare the public sentiment on public funding of other issues, socialized medicine for everyone, free education, additional increases in welfare expenditures, there is not much left in the public pocket book for community corrections. Interestingly enough, crime and punishment does not seem to be a major concern of our presidential candidates. Asked by carol h - Thu Jun 19 02:11:28 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. The correct spelling is "all intents and purposes". Otherwise - You seem to have answered your second question. The obvious answer to the first question is that the more programs people demand, the more they are going to have to give up (e.g., income taxes) to get those things. A bad economy = less people working = less tax revenue = budget deficits for government programs. Answered by Hello G - Sat Jun 21 14:13:14 2008 CSU budget crisis.....? Q. Q. I teach in Seminole County in Florida and we have a budget crisis. This isn't only my county but many others. There are many good teachers losing their jobs because of the budget. They are even thinking of doing away with after school sports for the middle schools. I am one of those teachers who are waiting to hear if they have a job next year. It's very nerve racking and stressful. I am curious how it is all over the country. Asked by veggie dancer - Wed Apr 23 16:36:49 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I teach in Polk County, FL. Our district is issuing letters of termination to ALL annual contract employees. They plan to fill the open positions this creates with contract employees who loose their place due to budget cuts and changes to student scheduling (from block to 7 period days). Any remaining positions will then be offered to those annual contract employees who were laid off, on a first come basis. Each county seems to have a different way of handling the shortfall. What is going to make it tough is that there will be fewer positions to go around. What I find odd is that my district is still recruiting out of state.
