A. How about another view of the crisis: Look under each date for the phrase "Tax Revolt 5PM Hr." You're going to find that it's the CA Legislature that is lying to us! Is there a correlation between states with no income tax and states that are currently in a budget "crisis"?
Q. California, for example, is one of the highest-taxed states in the country, but has a huge budget shortfall. Texas, on the other hand, has no personal state income tax and no budget crisis. Is there a correlation, or are there some states with no income tax that nevertheless overspent in the rising market and are now facing a revenue shortfall?
Asked by Curtis G - Wed Jul 1 16:48:57 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, there is. And there are two reasons. States without income taxes are not as dependent on swings in income. California, New York, Oregon, Ohio, New Jersey all made the silly assumption that incomes-- and therefore tax revenues -- would never fall precipitously. It was a convenient assumption that allowed them to spend at will (sort of like planning a family budget around two income earners and assuming that neither will ever lose a job). Secondly, states without income taxes tend to have more favorable business climates and attract businesses (and their jobs) from states that don't -- i.e. California, NY, Oregon . . . etc. People are fleeing high tax states for low tax states in droves. Go to the U-Haul site and see how much more it… [cont.]

A. Closing the US/Mexican border in california would deter illegal immigration hence lower law enforcement costs and local government funding requirements. Expelling illegals would produce jobs that californians that are on welfare or need a job can have, and also would further lower law enforcement, local, and government financial obligations. California is not against migrant workers, and will accept them with open arms as long as they have qualifying paperwork to work...illegal work is unacceptable and will be combatted effectively. Since they are taking jobs that the people of california cannot or will not fulfill, their hourly pay will be subsidized by the state in addition to the fair pay that the employer will pay which is to include a… [cont.]

What do you think about the California budget crisis?
Q. Why doesn' the state cut state legislature salaries, they get paid ridiculous amounts already and look how they have gone and screwed up our state economy. That would save so much money right there. It really makes me angry that they won' take any responsibility and instead want to tax the general public more for the mistakes they have made. What is your opinion of the California deficit. What do you think should be done?

A. California has it deficit for one reason, illegals. look at what it cost to just educate and incarcerate. The more than $10.1 billion in costs incurred by California taxpayers is composed of outlays in the following areas: Education. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in California and documented costs of K-12 schooling, Californians spend approximately $7.7 billion annually on education for illegal immigrant children and for their U.S.-born siblings. Nearly 15 percent of the K-12 public school students in California are children of illegal aliens. Health care. Uncompensated medical outlays for health care provided to the state's illegal alien population amount to about $1.4 billion a year. Incarceration. The… [cont.]

How is this "budget crisis" different than any other budget crisis' before?
Q. Just because Obama is borrowing from other Countries now doesnt mean other presidents haven't. Who cried when Bush was borrowing. Nobody. Rates have nevr been so cheap. Its actually beneficial when you can shop for interest rates so low. I actually think we need to borrow more money n ow so the US can take advantage of cheap dollars. Maybe Obama is seeing this and strategically will cause inflation to make all this debt actually worth something.

Q. Governor, State Legislative Assembly, or the voters for voting for them?

A. Our wonderful politicians can not agree on anything, except when they voted themselves a raise. So how come the : Government of the People - For the People - By the people! Wound up to be: Government of the Government, for the government, by the government. I think we as the people should vote on weather they get a raise, depending on their performance, just like we do in our job, if the boss doesn't think we deserve a raise we don't get one. I also think if they don't pass a budget on time they should not get their pay check instead of the people not getting theirs, it is not th people hanging up the money they still pay taxes no matter what the fat calf's do,. Some of us in Ca. are getting IOU's instead of state tax refunds, but we… [cont.]

Why don't they just print more money to end the budget crisis?
Q. Most answers to this say that then they would have to raise the price of other things and they don't have enough gold to back that, but that is because of goverment issue policy which they could temporarily pardon or something to end the deficit and us broke individuals would stay working hard to make money and build the character that working for money builds.

A. With any university having financial issues... the first thought is to raise tuition and give less grants to needy students/ select students that can pay the full tuition. The incoming freshman population might change a bit to those that have more money, are from alum parents that might donate, or might contribute to the college in some way such as research or sports that might be profitable. But, other than that, you would have to figure out what the college puts most of its money into and see where it can cut down. Generally speaking, colleges might cut down on student organization funding, especially if they do not bring in any money. They might decrease the number of staff in housing, dining, security, etc/ decrease hours of… [cont.]

A. There are quite a few. It is just another indication of gluttonous spending by loser politicians with no vested interest in the future. They just don't care about the consequences of their actions. Sticking it to the taxpayer again. I would say that qualifies as going downhill.

Q. yeah why not? would it destroy society? why why?
Asked by oh,hello! - Mon Sep 22 00:15:55 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That's actually why we're in debt so much. When the fed prints up money, they loan it to the government at interest. If there's more money in the economy, not only do we have unpayable debt, we have inflation, because all the money is worth. For just a completely hypothetical example, say you had 1,000 dollars total in the economy. That's it, that's all you had in circulation. Now, if you printed enough to get 1,000,000 dollars, with the same backing (fiat, gold, etc.) each dollar would be worth less, because there was more of it. So, yeah, there would be mass inflation, gas prices would go crazy, and the Fed would reap all the profits.
