AnagramsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. In business, revenue is income that a company receives from its normal business activities, usually from the sale of goods and services to customers. In many countries, such as the United Kingdom, revenue is referred to as turnover. Some companies receive revenue from interest, dividends or royalties paid to them by other companies. Revenue may refer to business income in general, or it may refer to the amount, in a monetary unit, received during a period of time, as in "Last year, Company X had revenue of $32 million." Profits or net income generally imply total revenue minus total expenses in a given period. In accounting, revenue is often referred to as the "top line" due to its position on the income statement at the very top. This is to be contrasted with the "bottom line" which denotes net income. For non-profit organizations, annual revenue may be referred to as gross receipts. This revenue includes donations from individuals and corporations, support from government agencies, income from activities related to the organization's mission, and income from fundraising activities, membership dues, and financial investments such as stock shares in companies. For government, revenue includes gross proceeds from income taxes on companies and individuals, excise duties, customs duties, other taxes, sales of goods and services, dividends and interest. In general usage, revenue is income received by an organization in the form of cash or cash equivalents. Sales revenue or revenues is income received from selling goods or services over a period of time. Tax revenue is income that a government receives from taxpayers. In more formal usage, revenue is a calculation or estimation of periodic income based on a particular standard accounting practice or the rules established by a government or government agency. Two common accounting methods, cash basis accounting and accrual basis accounting, do not use the same process for measuring revenue. Corporations that offer shares for sale to the public are usually required by law to report revenue based on generally accepted accounting principles or International Financial Reporting Standards. In a double-entry bookkeeping system, revenue accounts are general ledger accounts that are summarized periodically under the heading Revenue or Revenues on an income statement. Revenue account names describe the type of revenue, such as "Repair service revenue", "Rent revenue earned" or "Sales". From Wikipedia under the

Proponents of a flat tax believe that tax revenues can actually rise even when the flat tax is lower than current income tax rates. How could this happen and why? What's your position on this issue? Asked by mike121 - Mon Nov 17 12:53:05 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Many proponents of the flat tax start at an income level which exempts minimum wage earners. Dependents are the only variable exemption. There are no interest payments, house taxes, sales taxes earned income credits or any other deductions. That net amount is subject to a flat tax rate and everyone pays. I like the idea and feel that the person who earns the most should keep the most. Even in the Communist society those in the know had all the benefits. Answered by googie - Mon Nov 17 15:02:27 2008 Should I write a business plan if revenues will no be in the thousands? Q. You will need a business plan if you will use it to: - Support a loan application - Raise equity funding - Define objectives and describe programs to achieve those objectives - Create a regular business review and course correction process - Define a new business - Define agreements between partners - Set a value on a business for sale or legal purposes - Evaluate a new product line, promotion, or expansion You will get a lot of advice that a business plan is needed. However, what you need is the process that a business plan entails -- that is, the process of thinking through the business. It will help if you follow the outline of a business plan -- e.g. defining your business, determining your unique selling proposition,… [cont.] Answered by imisidro - Wed Oct 10 17:05:10 2007 What percentage of ecommerce revenues are settled using the konbini system in Japan?
Q. The Jpanese konbini (convienience store) system allows anyone to purchase online and then pay for that puchase at their corner c-store. When it was first announced, it seemed rather successful -- yet I cannot find any information on the percentage of overall ecommerce revenue that goes through that system. Well -- so far this has been a waste of time. Does Yahoo really hope to make this a real service? Asked by onepage2000 - Tue Jan 24 21:29:34 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The answer is 'I don't know', but I'd like to. It is certainly not "none" (give me a break!) but my guess is it's in double figures at least and growing. The place to ask this would be Seven-Eleven Japan or the Japan Credit Card Association. Answered by zemble2 - Wed Jan 25 03:29:02 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "revenues" |
